Acupuncture Treatments for Sciatica Evesham

Sciatica Treatment Evesham

Sciatica is a disorder including nerve impingement and inflammation that has progressed enough to lead to pain. This is usually a distending pain either starting at the hip and going down to the knee or even all the way down into the foot. Often this feels like a dull ache that occasionally acts up and shoots down the leg with sharp and often electric-like pain.

This can become very frustrating as activities such as getting in and out of a car, or tying shoelaces can be a painful and sometimes difficult activity.

So what can we do? Using a combination of acupuncture and Tui na massage we can help to release the tight muscles that create the impingement. The acupuncture also stimulates the local nerves releasing endorphins and reducing pain, it reduces the inflammation and increases the circulation. If there is injury to the sciatic nerve itself , acupuncture can also promote it’s regeneration.

This leads to decreased pain, improved range of movement and circulation meaning you’re able to get back to being you!

As of the 7th of April 2021, the National institute of care and excellence (NICE guidelines) now recommend acupuncture as a solution to both primary and secondary chronic pain, including sciatica so you can feel confident in the effectiveness of this treatment option.

CONSULTATION

Your first acupuncture treatment for sciatica Evesham begins with an in depth consultation, the perfect opportunity to get to know each other a little and to discuss your problem. The consultation will include questions surrounding your general health to ensure we have the information we need to make an accurate diagnosis.

TREATMENT

This is followed by a gentle acupuncture treatment, where we take the first step on your healing journey. It may include other types of Chinese Medicinal therapy such as Cupping, Moxibustion or Tui Na massage; your practitioner will formulate the perfect combination for you.

RELAX

After we have inserted the needles, there will be time for you to kick back and relax. Some patients like to use this time to meditate, to focus on the feeling which happens around the acupuncture needles (some report it tingley, some like gentle electricity- everyone is different!) and some even take the opportunity to have a power nap. The most important thing is that you feel relaxed and comfortable.
